Dating from 1242 The Bear is a real hidden gem, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the High Street. Students, locals and tourists drop in to enjoy a great pint of real ale and good, home-cooked food in these historic premises.

The finest and freshest local ingredients make up our menu, which centres on proper English pub classics. We serve up seasonal specials too, and we’re locally well known for our excellent Sunday roast.

In our Fuller’s Kitchen, we take taste personally. That means our talented chef team have seasonal, local produce delivered every day.

It also means they have the freedom to put their stamp on every dish, and it is why you will see Head Chef, Rossella Gandolfo’s signature on every menu.
