OSJ Ensemble Launch Concert: Bach and Arvo Part in association with the University of Oxford Music Dept

There is something very special about the intimacy of watching chamber music: the opportunity to share in a very particular kind of musical communication. The Orchestra of St John’s is absolutely delighted that our Leader Jan Schmolck and keyboard player Howard Moody, both soloists in their own right, are leading a new initiative, the OSJ Chamber Ensemble, made possible thanks to the generosity of Ian and Caroline Laing, which will not only allow our musicians to work and perform in smaller groups, but will connect them with students and young musicians for workshops and masterclasses. We are delighted to partner with the University of Oxford Music Department for this inaugural project, which culminates with this performance at the Holywell Music Room featuring music by Bach, Arvo Pärt and Howard Moody.
