Viola da Gamba Duo with Ibrahim Aziz and Peter Wendland

An evening concert of music for two Violas da Gamba featuring beautiful works by J. S. Bach, William Byrd, Matthew Locke and Johann Schenck. Experience the intimate sound world of these instruments in the calm and peaceful setting of the Oxford Friends Meeting House on St Giles. This concert lasts about one hour.

Ibrahim Aziz and Peter Wendland work together in various Early Music ensembles in the UK and have performed in many prestigious venues. Peter will be playing a stunning original 18th century viola da gamba made by Joachim Tielke and Ibrahim will be performing on a copy of this instrument.

The music features J S Bach\'s Inventions compiled in 1723, a work by Carl Friedrich Abel who was born in 1723, and a setting of one of William Byrd\'s rounds (Byrd died in 1623). A celebration of different composers from different ages on two violas da gamba.
