Oxford’s premier jazz outfit, The Cutting Edge Big Band, are to stage a showcase performance in Didcot. For one night only, the Cornerstone Theatre will come alive to the stylish, exciting sounds of the Big Band era.
Known for filling the dance floors of Oxford, The Cutting Edge Big Band have agreed to their first theatre show in over a decade.
Band Leader Chris Macklow say the 17-piece orchestra, who’ve been entertaining Oxfordshire for nearly 40 years, are looking forward to bringing the glamour, romance and energy of the 1930’s and 40’s to Didcot: “We’ve pulled together a very special night with some real gems from Duke Ellington and Count Basie to Ella Fitzgerald and Glenn Miller”.
Chris says “We’re also thrilled to announce we’ll be joined by vocalists Kim Osmond and Paul Cox. Kim and Paul bring experience, showmanship and an extra dimension. To be able to bring both to Didcot is a real treat”.
With only weeks to go, the Cornerstone Theatre is bracing itself for dancing in the aisles…
