Talk – Thursday 24 May 2018 6.30pm — 8.00pm – This Same World Over: Brazilian art history in context

Join Dr Isobel Whitelegg (Research Director, Museum Studies, University of Leicester) for a talk that explores Cinthia Marcelle’s past work, and contextualises her practice in relation to how Brazilian artists have historically navigated between formal concerns and a need to confront social or political demands.

Workshop – 1 June – 3 June 2018 – Processions

Modern Art Oxford is working with 8 local textile artists alongside lead practitioner Nicola Donovan to collectively design and create a single banner, representing women and their ideas, concerns and hopes for the future.

The banner will be exhibited as one of 100 banners created for PROCESSIONS, a nationwide artwork celebrating the centenary of the UK Government passing legislation granting the first few women the right to vote.

Oxford-based music collective, Candy Says is a force to be reckoned with. Electronic and poppy, their authentically analogue keyboard sound is supported by mesmerising lyrics from vocalist, Julia Walker.
