DESCRIPTION:Experience an evening of Baroque splendour in the atmospheric setting of the University Church\, Oxford\, as the Choir of The Queen’s College Oxford is joined by the world-famous Academy of Ancient Music. The programme features Handel’s four Coronation Anthems\, composed for the coronation of George II in 1727 and including the iconic Zadok the Priest\, music that combines ceremonial grandeur with thrilling choral drama. Alongside them\, Vivaldi’s much-loved Gloria brings contrast and vitality\, moving from exuberant brilliance to moments of lyrical repose. Performed on period instruments and with the renowned choral excellence of Queen’s Choir\, this concert promises colour\, energy and expressive power. \nThis concert is being professionally video recorded for later digital release. DESCRIPTION:Singing improves our sense of happiness and wellbeing and brings physical benefits too such as improving out breathing and posture. So why not join Summertown Choral Society which has been welcoming choral singers of all ages and voice parts and whether experienced\, rusty or complete novices since its foundation in 1961? \nRehearsals are at St Michael and All Angels church in Summertown on Thursday evenings from 8 to 9.30. Rehearsals for our Summer Concert\, when we will be performing Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle\, start on 19 February. Rossini was a fascinating man and witty bon viveur\, and the Petite Messe Solennelle reflects his humour\, his joie de vivre and his dramatic roots in opera. SUMMARY:Sunday Jazz in the Glasshouse
DESCRIPTION:Foodies and music lovers alike will be able to tuck into a classic Sunday roast – with a jazz twist – at the Crazy Bear in Stadhampton this weekend. \nThe iconic hotel and restaurant is hosting Sunday Jazz in the Glasshouse\, which will allow customers to experience a truly decadent three-course roast while enjoying a live jazz band. \nHeld every second Sunday of the month\, the event started in style in November\, with bookings available through until May 10. \nA soundtrack of smooth jazz tunes will be provided by Sepha\, fronted by London-based vocalist Rosie\, who has performed alongside stars such as Camila Cabello\, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Jess Glynne. \nFlorentina Ionita\, Event Sales Coordinator at Crazy Bear\, said: “Sundays are for slowing down and taking things easy\, which makes our Sunday Jazz in the Glasshouse the perfect opportunity to indulge the senses. \n“With locally sourced meats from trusted farms\, perfectly roasted vegetables from local growers\, and homemade Yorkshire puddings with all the traditional trimmings on your plate\, relax and savour the smooth and soulful sounds of Sepha. \n“All of this takes place in our relaxed and welcoming Glasshouse setting\, ensuring Crazy Bear is the place to unwind and enjoy a Sunday with family and friends.” \nStarters include ham hock terrine\, Armagnac home cured salmon\, wild mushroom arancini\, and fire roasted courgette. \nThe roast mains include roasted dry-aged striploin of beef\, slow-roast pork belly\, and slow-cooked half chicken\, and all come with roast potatoes\, carrots\, seasonal vegetables\, Yorkshire pudding and a rich gravy sauce. Other main options are Jerusalem artichoke gnocchi and pan seared seabass fillet. \nThe dessert selections consist of Earl Grey and chestnut burnt cheesecake\, vanilla crème brulée\, sticky toffee pudding\, and a selection of sorbets. A refined selection of teas and freshly ground coffee are available to round off the experience. \nLive jazz band Sepha will be available from midday to 5pm only.
