Slow Stitching with Tabitha Grove – Four part course (Charlbury)

Monday, April 15, 2024 at 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Four evening sessions of meditative hand stitching to make the most beautiful, kimono-inspired, short robe.

DATES APRIL 16TH, 23RD, 30TH, MAY 7TH 7PM-9.30PM

Four evening sessions of meditative hand stitching to make the most beautiful, kimono-inspired, short robe. This is a very calming course with not a machine in sight. Artist and professional costumier Tabitha Grove will take those of all abilities through a few simple but very effective stitches and techniques in a calm friendly atmosphere. You’ll finish with a classic garment made from the finest linen, that you will be so proud to wrap yourself up in.

It’s a series of four 2.5 hour sessions. In these sessions we cut and sew our own waste-free robes from some of the best linen you can buy from John Hanna in Ireland (honestly, it’s so beautiful). It’s a neutral tone, too, so you can dye it any colour if you so wish! The first session will be cutting, the next three sessions focus on assembly. We don’t use a single machine stitch. We only use very simple stitches, all by hand. The idea is that you’re focussing on doing something simple, very well. Each stitch is important. It’s a very relaxed course and its as much about taking time out of hectic life as it is about learning how to make something beautiful that you can treasure forever.

I sell these robes for £250-£300 each, so it’s a bargain too!
