Sir Stephen Hough

Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Renowned as one of the eminent pianists of our era, Sir Stephen Hough presents one of the timeless gems in piano concertos. Collaborating with Marios Papadopoulos, Hough undertakes the monumental challenge of Rachmaninov’s passionate and expansive Piano Concerto No. 3, a composition celebrated in his Sunday Times Record of the Year. Preceding this, the concert features Brahms’s Symphony No. 3, a piece characterized by its captivating blend of menace and mellifluous beauty, painting a vivid portrait of radiant splendor and ominous premonitions. This performance promises ample opportunities for the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra to showcase both its exceptional soloists and its rich, enveloping sound.
