Join Earth Trust for an insightful and inspiring evening with Lu Barton from the Owl Conservation Project, as we delve into the world of British owls. Learn all about these magnificent birds and the vital conservation efforts being undertaken to protect and preserve their populations.

British owls hold a unique and vital role within our ecosystems. They serve as indicator species, providing valuable insights into the health of our environment, and as flag and umbrella species, their conservation benefits a wide range of other wildlife.

Featuring special appearances from a Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, Long Eared Owl and Little Owl, Lu’s talk, will cover:

  • An introduction to the various species of British owls, their characteristics, and their habitats.
  • The present state of owl populations in the UK, including challenges and threats they face.
  • The Owl Conservation Project’s initiatives such as habitat restoration, nest box installation, surveying, monitoring, and population and behaviour studies. Discover how these efforts are crucial for the survival of these birds and the broader ecological impact.
  • The importance of public awareness and education in owl conservation, and how you can get involved.
