Nature walk at Gibbets Close Hill reserve, Witney, West Oxfordshire

Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Guided walk around WFT’s newest 50 acre nature reserve and habitat restoration project in the heart of the beautiful Oxfordshire Cotswolds.

Join ecologist and WFT’s CEO, Neil Clennell, on a guided walk around Gibbets Close Hill, our exciting new nature reserve and habitat restoration project. At the moment the site is not freely open to the public, so this is your chance to see it in its early days and hear our plans, share your views, and ask questions. It is also a great opportunity to enjoy a walk in the heart of the Cotswolds in this very special place, home to a wide variety of wildlife including some magnificent veteran oak trees, and spectacular views from the top of the hill.

HOW TO FIND US:

NB: the map above is automatically generated by postcode and may not show the exact entrance, so please follow the directions to find us.

Approaching via the A40 from the Oxford direction: after joining the B4022 Oxford Hill into Witney, the entrance to Gibbets Close Hill nature reserve is on your right through a five bar gate, opposite the signposted entrance to Witney cemetery on the left (about 100m before the traffic lights at the crossroads). Approaching in the opposite direction from Witney, the site is then on the left after the Oxford Hill crossroads.

The entrance to the site will be marked with a WFT flag and you will be met in the farmyard by Neil.

T RANSPORT AND PARKING:

We only have limited parking at Gibbets Close Hill, so please consider sharing a lift, getting dropped off or using public transport. There is a bus stop for the S1 & S2 bus just outside our gate on Oxford Hill.

All proceeds from these guided walks will go into funding the restoration of Gibbets Close Hill nature reserve.
