Jacqui Dankworth and Charlie Wood in Concert

13 March @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

£15

Come along and see the world acclaimed duo perform at the 110th Chipping Norton Music Festival on Sunday 13th March 2022

JUST YOU, JUST ME

Award-winning vocalist Jacqui Dankworth and acclaimed American pianist-vocalist Charlie Wood, in a very special husband-and-wife duo concert performance celebrating a century of song. Featuring duet arrangements inspired by great musical partnerships like Ray Charles and Betty Carter, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, George and Ira Gershwin, Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, James Taylor and Carole King, and many more.

Daughter of Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth, it’s no surprise that Jacqui Dankworth is regarded as one of the UK’s finest jazz vocalists. Although known primarily as a jazz singer, Dankworth was described by The Sunday Times as ‘one of our finest singers, regardless of category’ and has collaborated with a diverse array of musicians and groups throughout her career including Marvin Hamlisch, Paloma Faith, Alan and Marilyn Bergman and Chick Corea.

A Memphis native, singer and keyboardist Charlie Wood grew up immersed in jazz, blues, and old-school R&B soul. Having toured Europe and the US with blues legend Albert King, Charlie was given a residency at the King’s Palace Café on Beale Street, the heart of the Memphis music scene, and officially recognised as the ‘Home of the Blues’ by an act of Congress.
