Intermediate Ride: Summer Day Out from Barton to Otmoor and back

Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

Escape the city for the day on a sociable ride exploring the countryside on our doorstep!

This ride is suitable for anyone who is confident riding on roads and can ride a distance of around 10 miles at a relaxed pace.

We’ll be starting from the Underpass, North Way, Barton (what3words). The starting point is also easy to reach via quiet routes from Wheatley, Sandhills, Risinghurst and Headington – ask us to send you a mini-map!

We’ll be meeting at 09:50 for a prompt start at 10:00 and will stop for a coffee break at Rectory Farm in Stanton St John.

After continuing our ride, there’ll be an opportunity to have lunch at the Abingdon Arms in Beckley.

Please make sure your bike is in good working order, as the ride leaders aren’t able to make repairs on your bike.

If you have any questions, please email oxford@joyriders.org.uk.

Please bring with you:

  • Water and a snack
  • A spare inner tube for your bike if you have one
  • A bike lock if you have one
  • A jacket if rain is forecast – we ride in all weathers!
  • Money and card if you’d like to buy refreshments (some cafés only accept one of these)
  • A helmet if you wish to wear one

If you’re a beginner and would like cycling lessons or you need access to a bike so that you can join us on future rides, please get in touch at oxford@joyriders.org.uk.
