This month’s speakers are Ellie Brett and Tom Jeffery from Screaming Frog in Henley-on-Thames. Ellie loves to travel all over the world in between SEO projects (note: January 2020 was not the best time to go to China) and to annoy her brother (who also works at Screaming Frog). Tom is a dab hand at leading SEO strategies for global brands and SMEs and, thanks to a stint living in Australia when he was younger, used to be a regular extra on Home and Away.
This fab duo will be walking us through what it takes to make sure your company’s content gets found online – by the right people at the right time.
We’ll start by understanding some of the basic principles of technical SEO, why it’s important for a business, and how to put it into practice.
Then we’ll move on to thinking about how it can drive our approach to promoting our brand in the digital realm. So we’ll unpack what an SEO-driven content marketing strategy might look like – from learning how to find and fill ‘content gaps’ and do thorough keyword research to making sure we’re relevantly targeting each section of our marketing funnels.
We’ll also be thinking about how to monitor and measure all of that, so we know what is and isn’t working and can make changes and be properly armed to report back on our efforts.

How our gatherings usually go
🍻 6pm: Doors open for (free) drinks, marketing chit-chat, and – let’s face it – probably at least some small talk about the weather
🧑🏫 6.30-7.30pm: A brilliant marketing talk from a knowledgeable and interesting human, plus some Q&A and informal group discussion
🤓 7.30-7.45pm: It’s GUS time (that’s Genuinely Useful Shit)
🍻 7.45-8pm: More (still free) drinks and fun chat, hopefully about more interesting stuff than the weather by this point
Hosted by brand voice strategist Bethany Joy, in partnership with the fantastic Oxford College of Marketing.
Here you’ll find everyone from marketing managers and comms execs to freelancers, solo business owners, and students exploring the industry. If you’re interested in marketing, you’re welcome around the campfire.
Tickets are free (the best flavour) but it’s still super helpful if you book one, so we’ve got a rough idea of who’s coming on the night. Hope to see you there.
