Connecting Across Divides

Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Why do social problems such as classism, sexism, racism, etc. show up in our communities, despite our best intentions?
An interactive day-long workshop that includes personal sharing and practical tools.

This workshop looks at why, despite our best intentions, social problems such as classism, sexism, racism, etc. can show up within our organisations and communities. It is an interactive day-long session for anyone, including people involved in activism, community organising or co-living. It includes space for personal sharing and practical tools to help us move forward.

The workshop grew out of the climate movement and the facilitators have run it over 200 times, with over 2,300 people attending from 47 different countries. This workshop is an extended version of a popular session offered at The UK Communities Conference 2023 and back by popular demand.

Lunch is included. Bed and breakfast accommodation in the house is available for those who would like to stay over and experience some of the community life here at Braziers Park.

About the facilitators
Karl and Alima live in an intentional community. Together they have 40+ years of experience of teaching people to listen to each other about the emotional side of their lives. For the last five years they have been looking at why progressive organisations often struggle with internal divisions, and how to begin mending broken relationships and build resilience and trust.

What do you need to know
This workshop includes some personal sharing and therefore we ask participants to agree to confidentiality and mutual kindness and respect.
