Art Late Summertown | Autumn 2024

Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Art Late Summertown | Autumn 2024. Enjoy art, wine and conversation with a new format – a guided tour.

The North Wall, Turrill Sculpture Garden, and Sarah Wiseman Gallery are collaborating once again to bring you an evening of exhibition viewings, wine tastings with the experts at Grape Minds and a spot of late-night shopping & fizz at White Coco.

Each venue will conduct a guided tour – starting at Turrill Sculpture Garden at 5:45, then the North Wall at 6:15, then Sarah Wiseman Gallery at 6:45. Can’t make the tour times? Not to worry – guests are still welcome to make their own way round if they wish.

The North Wall is delighted to welcome back the Society of Wood Engravers for their 86th Annual Exhibition. Over 120 prints by British and overseas artists, members and non-members have been selected and will display a broad diversity of styles and subject matter. Although primarily a ‘black and white’ medium, the exhibition will also feature examples of colour printing made using multiple blocks.

Turrill Sculpture Garden’s exhibition ‘Five Senses’ is a group show that gives our sculptors lots of scope for representing individual senses, several together or even to produce a sculpture that is exciting to touch. All set in the leafy setting of the Turrill Sculpture Garden (through Summertown Library) with the opportunity to buy or simply enjoy on a visit to this peaceful space.

Sarah Wiseman Gallery are pleased to present ‘City & Land’, an exhibition of selected works by Bee Bartlett & Andrew Hood. Bee Bartlett explores the balance between composition and experimenting with materials, drawing us into her own view of the world by creating ‘likenesses’ of towns, cities and countryside. Making several trips abroad each year, Andrew’s paintings are born from detailed, lively sketches he makes ‘on location’. It is his aim for the viewer to see beyond a picturesque location as he captures an elemental energy of time and place.

Bring your friends along to this celebration of art on South Parade and enter our prize draw for the chance to win one of three wonderful prizes.
