Art and Its Real-World Public: Presentation and Q&A

25 April @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Creative entrepreneur Ella Snell presents Art School Plus – the bridge which connects artists with real-world public realm commissions

Operating as both an alternative art school and a convener of unique art projects, Art School Plus is the bridge which connects artists with real-world public realm commissions to realise and imagine new ways in which art can exist in the world. Art School Plus uniquely develops ambitious projects, in partnership, which move away from the gallery space but instead directly engage with public spaces, collections and places, and in essence, very directly with the world in which we inhabit. We share a showcase of how we work in this way through the form of our recent collaboration with the Imperial War Museum.

Ella Snell is a creative entrepreneur, specialising in alternative creative education and place-based cultural innovation. As a Clore leader and PRINCE 2 trained programme director, Ella spent six years at the British Library as Head of the Living Knowledge Network spearheading the growth and development of a UK-wide innovation network. By the end of her six years, the network was reaching 1.5 million people annually through collaborative engagement work. More recently Ella has used these skills to found and grow the alternative art school, Art School Plus, which connects artists and organisations so as to unlock the power and potential of creativity in our places. Partners include Camden Council, Creative Cardiff and the Imperial War Museum. As a Henry Moore Foundation Trustee, Ella also sits on the Audiences and Education committee.

This event is part of the 4th International Creative Industries Festival organised by the Creative Industries Research and Innovation Network at Oxford Brookes University, it is FREE and OPEN TO ALL!
