Album launch: Lou Lyne & the Blue Almond Poject

17 May @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

£12 – £14

Lou Lyne, of Oxford band Brickwork Lizards, is launching an album of heart-felt songs without words.”Thinking of blue almonds” is the debut album from Lou Lyne & the Blue Almond Project. It captures a collection of songs without words composed by Brickwork Lizards’ cellist, Lou Lyne. Scored for violin, viola, cello, and piano, Lou’s music comes from the heart, reflecting on the themes of love, loss, and longing.

The latest release ‘Saudade Tacita’ is out on Bandcamp now. It’s a wordless song about nostaligic longing for times past and times yet to come. Have a listen here: https://loulyne.bandcamp.com/track/saudade-tacita

Jane Griffiths is on the fiddle, playing with boundless soul and prowess. Jane’s mostly known for the Owl Light Trio and Rholben (among many others). Vanessa McNaught is on the viola. With a wealth of experience on the classical music scene including the Adderbury Ensemble, Vanessa is a master of her instrument, and gives her viola the most beautiful voice you long to hear more of. Ashton Gray, from the Sparsholt Collective, is on the piano, playing with enormous skill, energy, and sensitivity. Then, finally, Lou is on the cello. Drawing from her eclectic experience working with bands from Brickwork Lizards to Saint Etienne, Lou adds extra warmth and passion to the emotion and lyricism of the overall sound.
