‘A Christmas Carol’ performed by Gerald Dickens at Didcot Railway Centre

14 December @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

£35

One of the most well loved and meaningful Christmas stories of all times comes to life at Didcot Railway Centre this year. Experience a Charles Dickens masterpiece, ‘A Christmas Carol’ performed by his great, great grandson, Gerald Charles Dickens on the 14th December, 180 years after it was first published. The scene will be set as you are transported down to the performance which will take place in an evocative station building, our transfer shed, which captures the atmosphere perfectly.

Gerald has been performing ‘A Christmas Carol’ since 1993 to the delight of audiences worldwide and we are delighted to invite you to join in the season with a one-off special performance of this most iconic classic Christmas tale. The two hour performance (including an interval where you will be served mulled wine and mince pies) will see Gerald hurling himself into the Scroogean fray dressed in Victorian costume on an atmospherically lit station platform with two armchairs, stool, rug, table, hat rack and lamp. This will ignite the wonderment of the season through the immortal words of Dickens’ classic ghost story. Gerald is never still as he adopts different voices including Marley, Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet to come – sometimes mid-sentence, his expressions and mannerisms portraying each of the story’s twenty six characters in this acclaimed one-man show.

This performance is unforgettable, as he brings to life all the meaning of the original story.
